Antistatic Equipment
NAS1650 - RJ20S Anti Static Spot Blaster
(Nato Approved Stock Number – 4A/4940-99-0516993)
Redashe gained initial experience in rust control in the automotive industry with a standard type spot blaster.
An anti-static unit was specially adapted to cope with the demands of aircraft corrosion. The Anti-Static Spot
Blaster is totally powered by compressed air, the system is a closed loop system and was developed in close
cooperation with the RAF. Easily portable the anti-static spot blaster can be used in the majority of areas, even
the most difficult to get to, like the inside of wings. The system is fitted with an air regulator to give strict
control of the blasting pressure, which ensures no damage to the panel. All traces of oxidization are removed
safely and cleanly by the oxidization Spot Blaster. If necessary, the spot blaster can also be used to remove paint
from minor areas on metal, and composite materials, leaving a totally clean etched surface for superior adhesion.
Once an area is totally clean from spot blasting it is possible to identify deeper corrosion and weakness in metal
surfaces, unlike conventional methods. The Redashe Anti-Static Spot Blaster works by mixing compressed air with
blasting materiel, which is fired out of a very tough, long lasting Tungsten Carbide nozzle, which directs the
media to the surface requiring treatment. A selection of flexible rubber nozzles matches the surface contours to
prevent dust leakage.
The used media is recycled and pulled back by an inbuilt air mover, all waste material is removed to a dust bag.
Special anti – static hoses and earth cables are fitted to the spot blaster to reduce the amount of potentially
dangerous static electricity. This obviates the risk of explosion where flammable solvents and fuel are present.
All blasting media is recycled and cleaned within the unit. Ferrous particles are removed with a magnetic
separator. Fine glass beads are employed for light surface corrosion removal and general polishing; aluminium oxide
is used for heavier intergranular corrosion on aluminium or corrosion on ferrous fasteners. MoD and Nato approved,
the Redashe Anti-Static Spot Blaster is already in airline service with such operators as British Airways, Quantas
and BMI. Units are also extensively used by the RAF, RNAS and elsewhere. The Spot Blaster is employed by several
leading vintage aircraft restoration companies, the Marine Builders Training Trust, and Formula One racing
teams.
Applications for this specialist equipment also extend to offshore oilrigs for cleaning stainless steel welds. The
Redashe Anti-Static Spot Blaster is lightweight and compact, easy to use and represents a highly cost-effective
investment for easily and efficiently removing the curse of corrosion and doing this essential task both simply and
effectively.
