Aircraft disposal & salvage

GJD Services was founded in 2003 and began as an aircraft disposal & salvage Company which has evolved to include aircraft Engineering and Maintenance who through GJD AeroTech are currently undergoing EASA Part 145 Maintenance approval. Today it's among the top U.K. contractors for spare-part reclamation, aircraft salvage and aircraft disposal having been involved in the disposal of more than 60 military and civilian aircraft.
Advanced estimates expect 16,600 new aircraft to be delivered globally between now and the year 2025, with some 7200 due to be retired over the same period, that is an average of 42 aircraft per month which will need to be spares recovered and disposed of in a economical and environmentally friendly way by the aviation salvage industry, and we at GJD Services are able to provide some of that required capacity whilst providing a quality solution.
There use of reclaimed parts is increasing, and a whole industry is based around the second hand parts market, they are required to have full traceability, undergo a detailed inspection including operational tests if required, they must comply to the latest airworthiness standards, the inspector must ensure current AD’s and SB’s have been carried out and to keep them in an airworthy condition they must be removed under the supervision of a qualified Licensed Engineer.
The majority of GJD Services work is carried out for airlines, owners and spare parts companies that lack the manpower, resources, qualifications and expertise to reclaim parts and dispose of what remains. GJD use written procedures, task cards, inspection worksheets, and the appropriate Aircraft Maintenance Manuals.
EASA and FAA Licensed and type rated Engineers ensure that all tasks are carried out in order to maintain the airworthiness of each removed component and any part that fails the inspection process is quarantined subject to disposal or rework.
Scrap metal is normally fragmentised to sort out different metals and is then classed as clean material ready for recycling. All disposable methods and materials are covered under GJD Services ISO 14001 approval.
GJD works with other members of the Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association (AFRA) and aircraft manufacturers to develop procedures for the proper disposal of aircraft items with a view to achieving a green and cost effective route where eventual disposal will be governed by manufacturers approved disposal manuals.
